Most people are perfectly comfortable interacting with opposite sex in a Western fashion BUT be careful about offering your hand to opposite sex to shake it. wait if they extend first.

Thumbs-up sign traditionally means the same as the middle finger does in Western culture BUT almost everybody knows the western definition of thumbs-up and if a foreigner puts their thumb up, Iranians do seem to understand we are just ignorant of what it means. Victory sign (two-finger V) is totally accepted between Iranians and it means good and Positive.
